How can guided meditation audio make a difference in your life?
When you hear the word meditation, do you think of Buddhist monks in mountain top monasteries?
Sitting for hours a day, year after year in silent contemplation.
Well it doesn’t have to be like that. There is an easier way. Secrets of Meditation.
Meditation was one of my greatest discoveries in my recovery from depression. A deep depression that lead to me missing nearly a year of work.
But meditation is not just for when things get that bad.
Countless surveys have shown that we are not as happy as we could be. Greater material wealth has not led to greater happiness.
If anything, the opposite is the case. The more stuff we have, the more worry we over how to maintain it.
The more hours we have to work to be able to buy the things that don’t bring us happiness anyway.
We might not all be in the depths of depression. But there’s just that underlying sense of discontent. Things just aren’t as good as they might be.
What meditation can do for us
Meditation can reduce the stress, help to us to be calmer and more relaxed, and better able to appreciate the good that is already in our lives.
Ironically, it seems that the more we realize that we don’t need the stuff to make us happy, the easier it becomes to get the stuff.
Always noticing what we lack puts up a barrier to getting it.
People who become adept at meditation just seem to have less trouble with their troubles and the feeling spreads to those around them too.
So what is meditation?
There are so many different styles of meditation that it has been said that they cannot be covered by one definition.
My own loose definition would be that meditation is a method of achieving a desired state of mind.
Is it compatible with your religion?
Many religious traditions include some form of meditation practice but meditation of itself is not a religion.
There are various forms of meditation that are compatible with your beliefs or lack of them.
My first real experience of meditation happened to be at a local Buddhist centre recommended by a friend.
They ran weekly meditation classes for beginners. These were purely about meditation with no religious dogma involved.
Those weekly sessions were incredibly beneficial for me. At the time, I was in a constant state of stress with my mind running out of control.
Deep relaxation
During the session I would become deeply relaxed and calm and this would last for hours afterwards.
I found it much more difficult to achieve this state when I practiced alone.
I searched for help and came across various technological solutions such as brain wave entrainment.
Those things have their place, in fact I became a daily user. But I don’t believe they are a substitute for the real thing.
They offer the promise of putting your brain into deep meditative states quickly and reliably with no need to learn how to do meditation.
That may be the case but I have never felt the same benefit that I got from the guided meditation audio sessions.
They are supposed to save you hours of practice but meditation needn’t be that hard to learn.
Guided meditation audio resources
There are excellent guided meditation audio programs that can help you to get similar results to a live class.
There are so many of them and so many types of meditation it is hard to know which way to turn.
But there is one low cost solution that covers all the bases and it is called Secrets of Meditation.
It does a very good job of explaining what meditation is and about some of the main types of meditation and how to approach them for maximum benefit.
I have recently become interested in mindfulness meditation exercises but have found some of the books I read hard going.
Full of words and concepts in the original language which do nothing to aid comprehension.
They are also about what to do with not so much of the how. They left me in the dark a little bit.
This course does mindfulness in plain English and makes the whole thing much clearer.
More than just relaxation
It goes beyond the therapeutic aspects of mindfulness training to how you can use meditation to create the life you want.
As well as the benefits of meditation, it also talks about some pitfalls to be avoided.
All the background knowledge to get you started is there as well as the guided meditation audios themselves.
They are available as meditation CDs or downloads so you can get started straight away.
This is a very comprehensive package which is ideal if you are just beginning meditation exercises or you what to expand your horizons.
I have looked at very many self help products over the last few years but when it comes to guided mediation audio programs I wouldn’t look beyond this one.
I highly recommend that you go try the free Secrets of Meditation E-course.
